On the 22d of August, 98 years ago Alexander Pavlovich Kibalnikov, People’s Artist of the USSR, a distinguished Russian sculptor was born.

Alexander Pavlovich is the author of the remarkable monuments:

  • to Vladimir Mayakovskiy in Triumfalnaya Square, Moscow
  • to Sergei Yesenin in Ryazan

  • to Pavel Tretyakov in front of the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow.

Kibalnikov was the leader of the creative group and the author of central sculptures of the monumental complex to the Soldiers Fallen in Brest Fortress. Until recently, the remarkable national sculptor was commemorated only in his works: in the monuments loved and known by the people.

On February 15, 2010, the first version of a petition letter to perpetuate the memory of the famous national sculptor was read at the commemoration meeting devoted to People’s Artist of the USSR A. P. Kibalnikov; the meeting was held in the framework of one-man exhibition of Margarita Siourina Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors in the Ardena Gallery, Moscow. The pressure group approved the idea; the petition letter was signed and returned for improvements.

Moscow Sculptor Vyacheslav Piliper invited V.A. Kibalnikova to his artistic studio for viewing the first version of a tombstone to A.P. Kibalnikov to be installed in Novodevichy cemetery.

What has been done for the past 6 months:

The petition letter prepared by the pressure group was improved and complemented with a personal letter of V.A. Kibalnikova, a letter signed by the House in Kotelniky Community, reference materials covering major works and state awards of People’s Artist of the USSR A.P. Kibalnikov.
