PRESS RELEASE

In 2016 the art project "The Portrait of the Russian Fine Word" with pleasure begins cooperation with the Museum center "Preodoleniye" of N. A. Ostrovsky on Tverskaya Street, located in the house where there passed the well-known literary salons of the princess Zinaida Volkonskaya where there were Pushkin and Zhukovsky, Mickiewicz and Karamzin, many outstanding figures of the Russian literature and art.

The third season of the project «The Portrait of the Russian Fine Word» traditionally opens on July 30, 2016 in Marina Tsvetaeva's House museum with the exhibition "The Russian Literature and Crimea", our creative group annually shows exhibitions in this museum. But this year we at the same time and in parallel will present the second exhibition on the subject "The Russian Literature and Crimea" in spacious and high showroom of the museum center "Preodoleniye". The exposition of the exhibition in the museum center "Preodoleniye" will differ considerably from a chamber exposition in Tsvetaeva's museum – not only by the scale (size) of paintings and sculptures, but first of all by the scale (depth) of judgment of the declared subject by the participating artists of the project «The Portrait of the Russian Fine Word». The exhibition in Tsvetaeva's museum presents a parallel in the development of destinies of creators of the Russian literature and their communications with the history of the Crimean peninsula which are so often filled with spiritual and physical fight; while the exhibition in Nikolay Ostrovsky's museum will represent a subject of sacral and ancient unity – the Taurian earth and the Russian culture.

The Russian literature and culture are woven with history of the Taurian province into a tight ship rope – impregnated with salt of the Black Sea, burned white-hot under the scorching rays of the southern Sun and absorbed all the sand and a shell rock of ancient cultures of the Crimean land. From the ancient Scythians who were once jumping in Taurian steppes – to amazons and centaurs, myths of Hellas with travel of the Argonauts; to mysterious Tauris and feodoriyets – pagans, worshipping the Bull and the Maiden; to ancient Christianity from Saint Apostle Andrew Pervozvanny's lips. To get into the essence of the Taurian culture, to uncover deep sources of word creation and image creation of the Crimean land – here is the difficult task set for each participating artist of the exhibition "The Russian Literature and Crimea".

The poetry and picturesqueness of Taurian lands inspired and continues to inspire today the whole generations of artists and poets: there young Alexander Pushkin passionately fell in love – for a long time and seriously, and all his life nobly and fairl burned each new letter from the beloved from the Taurian province because – "she ordered..."; there he visited Bakhchisarai and, having felt suddenly something, – admired suddenly something and put two roses in one of bowls of the Bakhchsarai fountain – due to what he provided for ages pilgrimage to this modest (from the art point of view) sculptural monument. There Vasily Andreevich Zhukovsky wrote and drew, admiring the Crimean nature and mercilessly criticizing architectural style of noble estates and mansions; there, in Gaspre, the prince Alexander Nikolaevich Golitsyn spent the last years of his life - "a live splinter of the 18th century" - as his neighbours in the Alupkinsky palace of the governor Taurian count Vorontsov called. There the prince Lev Nikolaevich Golitsyn grew up wonderful vineyards in the place of the New World, not far from Sudak, created the first Russian champagne and received for it in Paris (unprecedented case!) the first award and the right to write that word - "champagne" on labels... There, in Koktebel, Max Voloshin thought up mysterious Cherubina de Gabriac, and as a result shot in the capital with Nikolay Gumilyov... There the young and unknown poet Sirin caught on slopes rare butterflies and fell in love in shady avenues, and went on foot (!) from the Southern Coast of the Crimea to the ancient cave city of Karaites of Chufut-Calais, easily staying for the night in cozy Tatar villages. There Anton Pavlovich Chekhov once saw on the embankment of Yalta the Lady with the Dog – so it remains there in bronze...
