On the 24th of July of this year, the city of Saratov celebrated the 185th anniversary of its outstanding citizen, Russian Thinker and Democrat-Writer, Nikolay Gavrilovich Chernyshevskiy.
The participants of the Exhibition Project ‘IN MEMORY OF THE GREAT ARTIST’, A.P. Kibalnikov, who came to Saratov quick-marched along Saratov streets from the Saratov Regional Local History Museum, where they were preparing for the opening of exhibition appointed for the 25th on July to the Museum-Estate of N.G. Chernyshevskiy, where the first display of the Exhibition Project was to open.
As fate willed, it was at House 12 in Babushkin Vzvoz Street, where Alexander Pavlovich Kibalnikov had lived, our group met the ceremonial procession walking from the monument to Chernyshevskiy to the Museum of the writer…
For the exposition to be displayed on the 24th of July in the Museum-Estate of N.G. Chernyshevskiy, we have brought some portraits of the Russian writers, first of all, the sculptural portrait and the figure of N.G. Chernyshevskiy created by A.P. Kibalnikov in 1948, from V.A. Kibalnikova’s collection,
as well as portraits of the writer (paintings and graphics) performed by:
- Gennadiy Bogoslovskiy,
- Vladimir Dobrynin,
- Pavel Zlobin,
- Margarita Siourina
specially to this Anniversary.

Perhaps through some misunderstanding, there happened a mess-up in the Museum’s schedule, so instead of a separate audience chamber we had to fit our display into the stationary exposition on the first floor of the Main Museum building.
We have fitted.
With the most kind and highly professional assistance of Jannet Georgievna Sapozhnikova, the head of the Museum Expositions Department, we displayed a number of the writer’s portraits, created by the artists who participated in our Project. The artists’ creative impulse aimed at depicting Nikolay Gavrilovich Chernyshevskiy, has been estimated at its true worth.
Svetlana Andreyevna Kouznetsova, the Vice-Chairman of the Volga Department of Russian Academy of Arts attended the exhibition opening.

Galina Platonovna Mourenina, Honoured Worker of Culture, Director of the Museum-Estate of N.G. Chernyshevskiy opened the first presentation of the Exhibition Project ‘IN MEMORY OF THE GREAT ARTIST’ in Saratov.
