IN 2012, IT WILL BE 100 YEARS SINCE Alexandr Pavlovich KIBALNIKOV, PEOPLE’S ARTIST OF THE USSR, FULL MEMBER OF ACADEMY OF ARTS OF THE USSR, LAUREATE OF STATE PRIZES, OUTSTANDING SCULPTOR OF OUR COUNTRY WAS BORN.

Alexandr Pavlovich Kibalnikov is a master who could portray the epoch in his works, reproduce dramatic chapters and characters of our history, all that Russia is proud of today too. He is the author of the monuments to Vladimir Mayakovskiy in Triumfalnaya Ploschad’ and Pavel Tretyakov in front of the State Tretyakovskaya Gallery in Moscow, the monuments to Nikolay Chernyshevskiy and Alexandr Radischev in Saratov, to Sergei Yesenin in Ryazan; he was the project leader and the author of the central figures (‘Soldier’ and ‘Thirst’) of the Memorial ‘To the Defenders of Brest Fortress’. On the 22nd of August, 2012, it will be 100 years since A.P. Kibalnikov was born. We believe, that centennial of an artist of such eminence should be observed on a high level and covered in mass media appropriately as a striking example of a great Artist serving his Motherland. In November 2012, an exhibition dedicated to the centenary of People’s Artist of the USSR A.P. Kibalnikov will be held in the Museum and Exhibition Complex of Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum of the Russian Academy of Arts.

We appeal to Russia State Museums suggesting that they should take part in the anniversary exhibition commemorating the centennial of A.P. Kibalnikov, for wonderful intimate sculptural portraits from their collections can make genuine contribution to the exposition in Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum Halls.

We appeal to people of Arts and Culture who personally knew Alexandr Pavlovich Kibalnikov, who worked with him, who were his students suggesting that they should take part in the anniversary exhibition commemorating the centennial of A.P. Kibalnikov at Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum.

Earlier, a number of portraits of Alexandr Pavlovich were painted and modelled from him: his striking colourful character and appearance have always stimulated a real artist to depict, convey, create the image.

By this time several contemporary Russian artists have confirmed their intention to participate in the anniversary exhibition commemorating the centennial of A.P. Kibalnikov – they are going to present their new sculptures and paintings dedicated to the distinguished Master.

We appeal to creative people of Saratov and Volgograd, to Muscovites, to all Russian artists: let us commemorate the centennial of Alexandr Pavlovich Kibalnikov, who left us works of the highest level, by creating new pieces of art dedicated to the great Artist and to the main theme of his career – worthy people of Russia.
