2010 – THE YEAR OF A TEACHER. SHADOWS OF FORGOTTEN ANCESTORS, one-man exhibition of Margarita Siourina

On February 8 – 21, 2010, Margaria Siourina presented her one-man exhibition SHADOWS OF FORGOTTEN ANCESTORS dedicated to the memory of her teachers:

Mini-displays of works of the artists-teachers presented in show-windows were added to expositions of the halls; there were also large scale photographs of the teachers and original works by the artists: a plaster cast bust of V.V. Mayakovskiy, a chamber version of a monument to N.G. Chernyshevskiy in bronze, and a plaster cast model of a monument to P.M. Tretyakov (works by A.P. Kibalnikov from his family collection), a canvass in oils by V.P. Tsvetkova, Lilac (1983), and intimate watercolours by V.P. Tsvetkova from the Siourins family collection.

Margarita Siourina is very grateful to Valentina Alexandrovna Kibalnikova for her help in preparing display of works by Alexander Pavlovich Kibalnikov, the remarkable Russian Sculptor, and for the pieces of art handed over for the exhibition.

Official opening ceremony was held in the Concert Hall; the floor was taken by:

  • Honoured Artist of Russia, President of International Academy of Culture and Arts Piotr Timofeyevichch Stronsky
  • Ms Valentina Alexandrovna Kibalnikova
  • Vice President of Creative Alliance of Professional Artists Stanislav Arturovich Aydinyan.


Margarita Siourina addressed the guests with a closing speech expressing her gratitude to her TEACHERS and appealing to take actions to preserve artistic heritage and to perpetuate the memory ‘in material’; she also expressed her confidence that among the guests there were many sharing her ideas and activities.
